Join us for an Indonesian eco-tour

riends of Nature, People and Forests has been running eco-tours in Kalimantan and Bali for many years. The Bali tours are on Nusa Penida island and at our Besikalung Wildlife Sanctuary, two of the locations where we run projects.

We have accommodation at our project sites and work with local communities to develop and operate our eco-tours. Volunteering opportunities are also available.

As a non-profit operation, all proceeds from our eco-tours are donations and used to fund our conservation projects. By choosing an eco-tour with us, you get to stay in a unique environment, see conservation and community development work in action, and provide funds to help us continue this vital work.

Want to join us for an Indonesian eco-tour? Want to know more? Please send an email to info@fnpf.org. We would love to hear from you.

Kalimantan

Come and explore Tanjung Puting National Park in a traditional Klotok boat. You will have the chance to see orangutans, hornbills and other wildlife as you cruise gently up the Sekonyer River. We will take you into the rainforest, visit our reforestation projects, meet village communities and discover how mining and palm oil plantations threaten the region. There is also the opportunity to camp in the rainforest. If you want to learn more about the local culture, we can organize that too.

Nusa Penida, Bali

Visit and stay in our volunteer center set among the trees, near the beach, in Nusa Penida. This beautiful island is just off the coast of Bali. Here, you will get the chance to spot wild birds, swim, snorkel beautiful coral reefs and enjoy the tranquility. There are plenty of great things to see and do on Nusa Penida – as long as you are not looking for restaurants and bars! We recommend staying at least two days and two nights if you want to explore the whole island; you will need to hire a motorbike or car to get around.

Besikalung, Bali

Come to our Besikalung Wildlife Sanctuary and be welcomed by the beautiful views of Mt Batukaru from our volunteer center. Here, you will meet Bali starlings, the emblematic bird of Bali, and other wildlife. Take a walk in the rice terraces, visit waterfalls, and enjoy the fresh water and air. If trekking isn’t your thing, you can rent a bicycle or motorbike.
